Evelyn Tello-Mendoza

Family is an important component of Hispanic culture. While it is common for Hispanic families to be separated by borders, this does not stop us from caring about our family members in our home country. This photograph shows my grandpa in the home he built, with the beautiful colors found in Hispanic homes. While our families are separated by immigration status, we still make sure our family is taken care of.

Evelyn is a twenty-two year-old photographer. Their perspective as a person of color and LGBTQ+ member is reflected in their work. Their work showcases the experience of two underrepresented populations, highlighting beauty in everyday life.
