Statement
On my bedside table, I’ve always had a photo of my Peruvian great-grandmother and my brother, connecting me to my family despite being overseas. I attempted to recreate that picture in an array of oil pastels, to what you see here. With this piece I hope to show that Latinos don’t have to look a certain way, and can run the gamut with their hair color or skin color, but still be family or connected.
Biography
My name is Michelle Perry, and I aspire to be a graphic designer and children’s book author. Having Peruvian parents makes me want my culture to always influence some part of my work. Always.
